Celebrate your life

19 May

Do you have a dream? You do know you can dream, right?

Now why would you live a boring life of a tick-tock clock when you can make celebrations every second. Making it a life worth living. Loving each moment. Living life to its fullest like there is no tomorrow.

To live each moment, you gotta quit being ordinary, be Extraordinary . Be awesome and if you are already awesome, be AWESOMER 😀 You gotta have a passion- for something and someone 😉

Like me, I ain’t an ordinary woman. And why because I have plans. No matter how big or small but they put a smile on my place and fill my heart with contentment. Because I have dreams which I need to fulfill, God willing, they keep me busy, busy – enjoying life to its fullest and to prepare myself for the bumpy road ahead. So, be a dreamer, and have big, humongous dreams.

  1. I want to look good, feel good, do good on a daily basis.
  2. Feed the poor – make life a wee bit easier for them.
  3. I wanna travel, see the whole world through my eyes.
  4. Drive my personal Red or Crisp white Range Rover.
  5. Ride a heavy bike, don’t have to own it 🙂
  6. Fly a jet.
  7. An avid reader and an accomplished writer.

I want to be his dearie wife, a “friend-like-mum” to my kids. A loving daughter, a caring sister, a passioante baker and a generous person overall. And then I wanna rest peacefully with my family in heaven. I want all this and much more from this One Simple life. It doesn’t have to be complicated, does it? After twenty years from now. When I’ll look at my ” Be a dreamer” list, I’ll have many Tick offs, God willing and even if I won’t have one or two clicks, i’ll have the answers to all the whys, God willing.

I know there are times when you just let your life, your passions, your dreams pass for something bigger, for some greater cause but IT SHOULD be that great otherwise stick to your guns and don’t let go of your dreams that easily. Fiiighggghhhttt because it’s worth it. And only you’ll know if it’s worth it or not. Like since I recall, I wanted to join the Pakistan Air force, flying jets was a dream. But then I got engaged. Now at that time I had to make a rational decision because I didn’t see fulfilling my dream without sacrificing peace of my family to be, my husband, my kids. So, this little girl made a big decision (I was 19 at that time) and I left my dream to join the Pakistan Air force for a much, much bigger cause. And now Alhumdo lillah when I look back, I have no guilts because I know, I know I made the right choice, So now I just wanna BUY a jet and fly it around, here there and everywhere 😀 Still holding on to my dream, in best possible way 😀

So, make a list pronto pronto, chop chop. I want a list from all and any of you, who is reading this and then keep it in your wallet or paste it on your drawer or just about anywhere you can see it everyday, it’ll remind you to take actions, plan accordingly. Let’s start Ticking off, shall we?

What ever they call you (Arshad, amna, javed, javeria, jawad etc), you have a new identity now, YOU ARE A DREAMER,  you gotta fight for it till your last breath. Which gives this simple question a tasty twist. Next time when somebody asks you this question, you’ll have a better tasting answers, which is less cheesy more spicy (if you like spicy) otherwise more sweeter than a mars bar. Now ask yourself…

“What’s your name?”

Answer is (No not sheela! hush! focus!.) ” My name is Dreamer, accomplishing big dreams is my game.”

Now start making your list. And get back to me when you have three ticks on it ( awww).

Start celebrating your life, and your time starts, NOW!

Set your imagination free

8 Apr

Imagination is such a powerful word. You can be anybody, anywhere doing anything you want. Powerful, eh? When I was young I used to pretend to be a Chef. Compiling a dish in front of my TV viewers. Back then I didn’t have a clue I had a passion for cooking. But I used to do it all the times, whenever I found myself making an omelette, french toasts or frying chips because that’s all I knew about cooking. Even then I imagined myself in all sorts of scenarios with an unlimited imagination of the possibilities.

And then I had imaginary friend, well friend to be precise. Jenn. She would do anything, go anywhere with me. We resolved big issues, together 🙂 And then I used to fly Jets, be the best orator and give lectures on how to use make up to look your best.

When they say that you can make a hell out of heaven and heaven out of hell, it’s all mind game also. You can imagine yourself jumping and running on crisp white, cotton soft clouds in the most difficult times of your life. Just to give yourself some space, some time to think things over, to get a hold on your nerves. And don’t come down until you find answers to all your queries to be in a better situation.

You can get ticklish after eating an ice cream or go sight seeing on a flying train, as those in OMORE adds hehe 🙂

“Imagination will often carry us to worlds that never were.  But without it, we go nowhere.”  Dr Carl Sagan

If you can imagine it, you are far more likely to achieve it. It’s not just for kids but adults should be encouraged to use their imagination also. So, don’t limit your imagination, don’t close it in a box and forget all about it.

Give it a try. Imagine yourself in the life that you really want to have. Write down things you wanna achieve and one day, God willing you gonna achieve ’em all.

When you know too little, too much!

6 Jan

You know what happens when you know too little, too much? Disaster. Kaboom, yes Kabooooom with as many “ooos” as you like.

Because when you do things for the sake of doing them, mostly because you see everyone around you doing it, you put yourself, your faith, your belief in great danger. Allah doesn’t want you to offer  Salah five times a day without even knowing the meaning of it. He doesn’t want you to fast in the Holy month of Ramadan to overeat at Iftar. He doesn’t want you to cover your head when you hear the call for prayer, HE doesn’t want you to place The Holy Quran on a beautifully carved wooden shelf and forget to read it everyday. He doesn’t.

He Wants you to know your actions. Because you cannot escape the consequences of them. Whether you’re listening to music or not, wear jeans or hijab, smoke or drink,  you should know what the hell you’re up to and have a rock solid answer for every action.

Don’t cover your head because your mum says so. Don’t smoke to look cool or because everyone is doing so. Try to become friends with all the “whys”, ponder, investigate. Stop nodding at everything you’re told. Find out whether something is allowed in Islam or not through references and then adjust yourself accordingly, please don’t try to find gray areas and try to fit Islam according to your own desire.

Knowing your actions, or what you’re doing and why you’re doing is so immensely IMPORTANT that Allah Almighty has based Jannah and Jahannam on it. Rejoicing in Heaven or burning in the scorching heat of Jahannam will be judged on your actions in life, a repercussion you may say. That will be the reaction of your actions, so you better know what your doing, right? Hell yeah!

All your actions have consequences. Don’t ever be fooled into thinking that your actions don’t have consequences. Don’t think you can get away with bad choices even if you don’t seem to get caught.

So, please know what your up to, then what your family is up to, your friends, your neighbors, your servants, so you may direct them in the right course of direction, so we may all live happily together in Jannah!

Start compiling questions and seek for answers from the Holy Quran, may Allah be your protector and helper!

Watch the way you live your life because you reap what you sow.

Smart goal setting

27 Aug

Can’t find the time and enthusiasm to offer that extra Nafil (optional prayer) you promised this Ramadan. Well we’ve got news for you. You don’t have to feel the way you do right now, anymore. Setting a realistic goal, my friend is the key to your answer. But, realistic approach it should be, please note again!

The main purpose of “goal setting” is to have and then maintain a focus. Focus doesn’t let us deviate from our objective. Channel your all possible efforts to achieve your “set target”, in the form of constant reminders. The idea is to set a goal. Set a goal, WTH! Well the concept is to keep you focused, right? and one way of doing it is to have a goal. Now your target should be realistic, don’t get emotional and over do it. Because you’ll get bored of it as soon as you start it. So, what is the best thing in hand. Well in my oh-so-humble opinion the best thing for you is to set a goal, say

  1. You’ll pray an extra nafil with each obligatory prayer.
  2. Recite one chapter (sipara) from he Holy Quran with urdu translation. Skip the arabic if you feel like it but the main point should be to read what Allah wants from hjus ad that He has provided us through His noble book. So you need not to feel guilty for not reading the arabic portion.
  3. Ask forgiveness from Allah a hundred times, by saying Astag fi rullah or something you please.
  4. Praise Allah a hundred times, some of the options can be,
Subhan Allahi WA bi humdihi, subhan Alahil Azeem.
Surah-e-Ikhlas.
Subhan Allah, Allah ho Akbar well you get the idea, no?
you’ll pray an extra nafil with each obligatory prayer.
Recite one chapter (sipara) from he Holy Quran with urdu translation. Skip the arabic if you feel like it but the main point should be to read what Allah wants from us. His guidance that He has provided us through His noble book. So you need not to feel guilty for not reading the arabic portion.
As we all know that the second ashra of Ramadan is almost coming to an end. None the less, we can still make most of the rest of the month if we didn’t take optional prayers (nafil), special dikr or a special something to please Allah Almighty, that seriously as we should have. Oh well it’s never too late.
Just jot down your goal and paste it on your cupboard, mirror, mobile reminder maybe, a some place where just to  keep yu focused. Tick each day whether you did what you were supposed to, daily. And say if you made a goal for one month, check at the end of the time period whether you achieved your goal or what. Keep in mind that there’s always room for improvement and once you achieve your target, set another goal and then another and then another and another.
Ask for me, my goal this Ramadan is, God willing.
  1. Learn Surah-e-Rahman and Surah-e-Yaseen by heart.
  2. Complete the Quranic translation, by  reading one chapter a day.
  3. Offer 10 optional prayers (nawafil) each day.
See, it’s realistically doable, God willing.
So, what’s yours? If don’t have any, there’s no time to lose, get ready, go…
Be pleased to please Allah Almighty.
Have a Goal!
Jazak Allah khair!

Learn from The Best

3 Nov

In Chapter 19, Al-Naml (The Ant), verse 19, Solomon (Hazrat Suleman R.A) makes a powerful yet humble supplication to Allah. He says:

“My Lord, arouse me to be thankful for Thy favor wherewith the thou hast favored me and my parents, and to do good that shall be pleasing unto Thee, and include me in (the number of) thy righteous slaves.”

What a beautiful one, indeed! In prayers you communicate with Allah Almighty, do you comprehend how powerful this communication and the word Almighty is? Don’t just say your “dua” for the sake of saying it after every salah but take it as a golden opportunity to forward your message to Allah. Keeping this mind, you’ll be surprised how it works wonders for you. And please, don’t just cram some verses in Arabic without knowing their meaning and true essence in mind, a supplication can be as powerful as one in Arabic, if it comes straight from the heart. There is no point in cramming them without any true understanding, so first learn their meaning and then include them in your daily supplications.

And since I plan to share some supplications from The Glorious Quran here, God willing, you can make most out of it and learn them by heart. Because you’ll be learning from the Best, The Word of Allah.

So please, make this dua one of your daily routine one’s. And please do remember Pakistan, Palestine, Kashmir and other Muslim countries in your prayers.

Pakistan Zindabad!

Change

26 Oct

Are you familiar with this word? How often do you hear it? No, never, not often, everyday? So, what is change? Why is change important? Is is wise to bend rather than to break? What is change to you?

Change to me, my friend brings out the best in you, it makes you a better human because it allows you to explore your abilities and polish your skills. Opens new horizons for you to explore, so you never get bored of yourself. And who can get enough of the person having gazillion interests. (with a hint of exaggeration hehehe)

You discover new ideas, thoughts, feelings and the best of all, new-world around you. You won’t get bored anymore.

  1. But the first step to change, is self-assessment and that my friend ain’t THAT easy. All you need to do is, be honest to yourself, filter out all the things you don’t want in yourself  by first jotting ’em down on a piece of paper. Once done get to second level.
  2. Now the second level is that you, give it your best short and do wonders. Now there there, it won’t happen overnight but it won’t take THAT long as well.

Do it often, filter out unnecessary habits and make some space available for some fresh ones. Those who change will get spiritual wisdom. Conversely, those who have wisdom will decide to change. Because only stones don’t change 🙂

Live a better tomorrow.

Adjusting Focus

4 May

When you sleep at 2 am in the morning and except to wake up for the morning prayer. You’re wrong! Doesn’t it ring a bell to you or something like it huh? Well wake up! slap slap* what in earth were you thinking?

Having said that , I would like to welcome you to our clan, our clan of lazy people. People who don’t know where they are headed, who are ignorant of their actions, living in a fool’s paradise.

I don’t know about you, but when i get up at 11 in the morning, some part of me is guilty about getting up this late. I don’t wanna wake up with this feeling. I don’t want to be the ones who NEVER get hold of their routine. Oh no! Oh no! God be willing. People say that having a routine is a tough job to begin with. Well, I would like to disagree but then talking is cheap and I know that none of you will buy it. So, I need to go ahead and prove it to everyone and myself too that it ain’t THAT bigga deal. All you need is a dash of passion, wee bit of determination and lots and lots of supplications 🙂

Well, now that you know my secret recipe to getting hold of your routine, tell everyone about it and let them cook some change in their lives hehehe 🙂

Will get working on this new thing from tomorrow, God be willing! so  all of you can say, “The day has been saved and thanks to the power puff girls leemz”

Wish me luck!
Meeaaoo.

Take control – Stay happy

4 Apr

Well a couple of minutes ago, i was feeling like a “mean green fighting machine”, not in a mood to do anything. With a heavy heart and low spirited i went from one room to another, read a novel (Stepsister), started a new one, but seemed like nothing could get me in the mood.

When suddenly, i realized, wait girl! why in earth all you letting yourself suffer and all and i said to myself, “Oooh yeah! you’re right! what in earth am i doing?” and you won’t believe it but in second, i could see myself smiling again, looking at the positive angels rather negative ones.

This is the power, the power that you can control. The power not many know it exists. The power to rule your moods, your actions, to rule each and every move. Everyone experiences ups and downs, depending on what is happening in their lives. No one feels great all the time, and it is normal to feel low sometimes, as long as it doesn’t stay that way for too long.

Realization is the first step. Then be open to yourself. Talking openly about how you really feel can be like opening a door. Talking puts you back in control and reveals the choices you have.  Whilst it may not be possible to solve all the problems you are facing, you can find things to help you look after yourself day to day.

So next time when you’re in a bad mood for more than you want.
Don’t give in. Don’t let it get you!
Take charge of yourself!

Losing Islamic Identity, aren’t we?

29 Mar

Something to think of...

I went to a Meelad yesterday. And there one fine lady read this poem aloud and it was one powerful piece of writing.  I knew it in a sec. that i had to have it. I had to publish it on my blog. Just had to.

Because, it’s so true, sad but true. This is who WE are. We, us Muslims, well most of us i know. We follow everything blindly as we are told, by our parents, grand-parents and so on. But, nobody questions. About all the why’s, how and where’s, anymore. They just follow whatever they are told to. And this has to stop now because, the Real Islam is one way or the other not in our mind, but it’s the culture that we are living/wasting our lives for. We think that it’s religion however what Islam wants us to be, how it wants its followers to be is not even brought into consideration anymore, since emotions took over.

People are happy listening to the tales of oh-so-many prophets and nobody even knows anything about their preachings, what they asked their fellow brothers to do, to surrender to the will of Almighty Allah. Night and day we live with the incessant thought that we can never be wrong. Never giving much room to thoughts that just might convince us otherwise.

Be the change you want in this world. Especially in our, Muslims world.

Food for thought

15 Mar

Don’t just jump to the answer. First think of your answer and then read the correct one.

Question: Two men walked out of a coal mine. One of them had his face all covered in coal dust. So, who will wash his face first?

Answer: Nope, it’s the guy with a clean face. Yes!

Because when he will see the guy with the dirty face, he will think maybe his face is dirty as well so, he will go and wash it.

I confess, i’m guilty my Lord!

27 Sep

Yes! for a change, let’s just talk about me. And me alone!

Often in life many of us may fool others, but we should try not to fool ourselves. It is important to be aware of our actions and motivations. Self-criticism is a great way of “keeping an eye on yourself”, it means we have to be honest with “ourselves”. There is no benefit from trying to justify our bad actions. If we can learn to be honest with ourselves our conscience will prevent us from undertaking regrettable actions. Most of the times, we wrongly invest our oh-so-precious time and effort in justifying our actions to ourselves, and this my friend is the danger of not being honest with yourself.

Keeping that in mind, i have something to confess. But first let me tell you one thing that i (consciously) keep myself miles away from a place where people are engaged in some kind of Gheebat or even something close to it. But last night, i went to see someone and that person told me that our President, Mr. Zardari misspelled God , finding it hard to believe i took off to another gathering. And politics was “the topic of the day”. And there i mentioned what out Current President did during his recent visit to Mazar-e-Quaid i-e he misspelled the words, God and Strength. After that, we cursed ourselves, our political leaders, made fun of everyone and said some nasty things that we shouldn’t have.

Late at night, while was checking my mail and surfing for some news i stumbled upon this article, it said, “Zardari’s misspelled remarks proved fabricated” Shocked as i was, i said to myself “You disgust Me”.

It was then i realized what great sin I’ve committed. It wasn’t just the backbitting i should be worrying about but it was actually a greater sin than backbiting, and this is Bauhtaan, (slander) accusing someone of  something that is untrue or without any evidence.

In surah-e-Al-Humaza 104, verse 1 of the Holy Quran:-

“Woe to every slanderer and backbiter.”

In Surah-e-Hujrat (The private apartments) 49, verse 6 of the Holy Quran,

“O you who believe! If a Fasiq (liar – evil person) comes to you with any news, verify it, lest you should harm people in ignorance, and after wards you become regretful for what you have done.”

In another Hadith ,narrated by Al-Bukhaari, 2317:-

It was narrated that Abu Hurayrah (may Allaah be pleased with him) said: The Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Alaah be upon him) said: “Whoever has wronged his brother with regard to his honor or anything else, let him seek his forgiveness today, before there will be no dinar and no dirham, and if he has any good deeds to his credit they will be taken from him in a manner commensurate with the wrong he did, and if he has no good deeds, then some of his counterpart’s bad deeds will be taken and added to his burden.”

Always remember, Self criticism is not easy, but it is a valuable aspect of our self improvement. When we criticize our bad actions, it is unhelpful to retain a powerful sense of guilt. Guilt does not help us to improve, it can just make us feel miserable. When we have become aware of wrong actions, make a resolution to avoid doing it and then focus on doing the right thing. This is much better than becoming debilitated from guilt.

So please Lord i beg of your forgiveness and won’t repeat this horrible mistake ever, insha Allah! And if Mr. Zardari you happen to be reading this article 😉 well, avoid any on-air comments or some legal action. hehe I appologize for everything i said. i truly am.
